Mongolian Bluebeard

Mongolian Bluebeard is a lovely shrub that blooms in late summer. It’s purple flowers attract pollinators and add beauty to the garden. Its stems, leaves and flowers produce a lovely lemony yellow dye when simmered over low heat.

All parts of the plant are believed to have medicinal properties. The roots, leaves, stems and flowers are are antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant. In traditional Chinese medicine, the plant has been used to treat swelling as well as digestive issues.
